The Department of Physical Education of SN College, Kollam, one among the pioneer Physical Education Departments in Kerala came into existence in 1948. The Department is proud to look back hosting a very significant Inter collegiate and Various Football league tournaments. The prestigious College and Physical Education department was the hub all sporting activities of Kollam district and The University of Kerala.
The Department being the pioneer in India has produced many outstanding Sports personalities who had brought laurels to the nation and the state in national and international competitions. The SN College, Kollam has many distinctions to its credit; achieved laurels at all India Inter University levels and produced a good number of National players.
Olympian Sreejesh Ravindran, Arjuna award holder represented India at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, as well as in the 2014 World Cup. He is the current Indian hockey team captain. Olympian Renjith Maheswary, Indian Triple Jumper represented India at the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well as in 2012 London Olympics. He made an Indian record of 17.30 m in Indian grand prix meet at Bengaluru on july 2016. Both of them were the glamorous personalities of our department.
Department conducted various activities to develop physical, mental, emotional and social dimensions of students and staff of our college. Department also conducted extensional activities for the benefits of students and society.
The Department is dedicated to mould physically fit, mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially well-being youngsters for society and promising sports persons in the coming years.
